Tay named Chair of GHSU Endodontics Department

Augusta, Ga. – Dr. Franklin Tay has been named Chair of the Georgia Health Sciences University Department of Endodontics.

Tay succeeds Dr. Norman Weller, who is retiring after chairing the department since 2003.

Tay has worked as a Professor in Endodontics at the GHSU College of Dental Medicine since completing his endodontics residency at the university in 2007.

He chairs GHSU’s Research Advisory Committee and International Student Exchange Program. Tay is a past member of the Evidence-based Endodontics Committee of the American Association of Endodontists and a Major Advisor of International Ph.D. students sponsored by the China Scholarship Council.

He is an Honorary Fellow of the Italian Society of Conservative Dentistry. He has served as Associate Editor for the Journal of Endodontics, the Journal of Dentistry and the Journal of Dental Biomechanics since 2009 and has published more than 400 papers in international peer-reviewed dental journals.

Tay received his Ph.D. from the University of Queensland and his doctorate from the University of Hong Kong, where he continues to serve as Honorary Professor in Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics.
