The Republic: Rare surgery to cut connection between 2 sides of brain stops girl’s seizures

Neurosurgeons Dr. Ian Heger and Dr. Cole Giller performed a functional hemispherectomy on a Covington, Ga., toddler in September in an effort to eliminate the multiple daily seizures – as many as 200 a day – that the girl has experienced since she was about 9 months old.
